Examples of Divine Intervention in My Life

Examples of divine intervention can be found numerous times in my memoir, Drawing From the Well. I wanted to share these two specific examples of divine intervention for this website.

In 1975, a comment from Mark's daughter Kay led us to buy a house, something that was not part of our plans. A year later, the Southern California real estate market went wild and our $55,000 investment doubled.

When dad died, intuition guided me to keep my inheritance separate from our family finances, and when I divorced Mark, I used my inheritance to settle with him on our community property. Fourteen years later, I sold the house, the value of which had increased more than six times the original investment.

Thanks to Kay and her casual remark put me in a sound financial position after my divorce settlement in 1982. I do not credit God for the Southern California real estate market's steep increase, nor would I blame Him for a downturn. I do feel we were nudged to buy a house, something we had no intentions of doing.

I also would consider my conversion to Judaism in 1987 amongst one of my profound examples of divine intervention. Most people have a list -- in their heads or written down -- of things they would like to do. For example, some people dream of buying a certain luxury car, taking a cruise around the world, or getting married. Becoming a Jew was not on any list of mine. Converting to Judaism, however, has given me a greater understanding of God's teaching than I ever had before. I converted, after twenty-four years of introspection, when I was fifty-nine. I do not think I would have been ready to make such a drastic lifestyle shift in my twenties or thirties.

Examples of divine intervention happen every day; some are seen, some are hidden in the background. I encourage you all to open your eyes to the overflowing examples of divine intervention miracles that happen to you and to the ones you love.
