Meet Ruth:
Ruth Wilma Shults spent her childhood on a New Jersey farm during the Great Depression. In her first book Moonlight Over the Canal, she recounts these formative years through young womanhood and how the historical physicality of Morris County colored her perspective. At age 75, Shults began to look back through her own history, including significant events prior to her birth, and was able to see profound intersections of God's presence and intervention in that history.
The trials and experiences of big-city life on both coasts, prejudice in the workplace, two divorces, and the diagnosis of a rare cancer create a compelling narrative arc in an intimate journey through traditional religion and non-traditional spirituality.
Drawing From the Well encompasses honest, well-wrought lessons and reflections of a woman with extraordinary sensitivity. Ruth writes:
“I feel I have successfully transcended the many obstacles I faced in my past. Two emotional experiences devastated me. One caused an illness. A major physical episode that resulted in two operations tested me to the core of my being. The outcome of these adversities convince me that a higher being, which I acknowledge as God, exists and is active in my life.”
